According to a Tradeshow Week 2007 Survey of Exhibitors. Fewer shows are
being attended by exhibitors, yet exhibitors are spending more money overall
on trade shows.
This might indicate that exhibitors are being smarter with their trade show
dollars because preparing for 1 or 2 large shows can generate significantly
more leads and be more cost effective than trying to fit in 10 shows with
smaller attendees.
One city in particular that has seen a loss in trade show dollars is
Chicago. In a recent study, titled: Recommendations for Business
Improvement, labor was cited most often as the reason why some trade shows
were relocated to Orlando or Las Vegas.
Trade Show Organizers and Exhibitors want to end wasting money that could be
better-spent on better venues and lower cost per attendee. Successful shows
are more cost effective, therefore more shows are attracted to a venue with
lower costs. Both Orlando and Las Vegas have lower labor costs than Chicago.
Orlando and Las Vegas are the currently the top trade show destinations
according to a survey by Tradeshow Week.
Exhibitors are cutting out smaller less effective shows. Trade Show
organizers are focusing on larger more successful shows. 85% of trade show
exhibitors are increasing their trade show budgets for these larger shows.

What are exhibitors spending money on this year? Conventions and Tradeshows

2006.
Summary: Exhibitors are now concentrating on fewer, historically successful
